Working in Germany: what to know before travelling

Employer

You receive the legal employer and project details before signing.

German employment contract

The contract and its main conditions are provided before you agree.

Pay and working time

Net and gross

The current offer starts from €18 net per hour. Before formalities, you receive a written explanation of how the pay is calculated and which deductions may apply.

Working schedule

The current schedule is Monday to Saturday, approximately up to 10 hours per day.

Overtime

Exact hours and overtime arrangements are explained before formalities.

Travel and accommodation

Travel to Germany

Tickets to the project are arranged or paid.

Local transport

If you have no car, transport to the project and shipyard is organised.

Accommodation

If you have no housing near Papenburg, accommodation is provided and the conditions are explained.

Documents and preparation

EU documents

You need documents allowing legal work in the EU.

Certificates

Bring relevant trade certificates. Expired welding certificates may still demonstrate experience.

What to bring

Bring identity and work documents, agreed workwear and the written project information.

You receive project tasks, site organisation and safety instructions.

The exact pay cycle and first payment date are explained before departure.
